BRIEF:

Design a simple toy car based on the Automoblox Toy Car

TIMEFRAME: 8 weeks

what is an automoblox?

According to PlayMonster, "The high-quality line of buildable and mixable vehicles is an innovative reinvention of the classic wooden toy car. Each vehicle includes multiple interchangeable components and sports a body made of European beech wood".

Inspiration

I was inspired by the yet to be released Rivain R1 All-Electric SUV. I gained inspiration from the most notable elements of the car such as the headlights, rims, and front and back bumper

IDeation

My next step was to begin sketching what the car might look like as an Automoblox Car. I choose to focus on the most notable parts of the R1 SUV, the wheels, front and back fascia, and headlights.

Throughout my ideation what changed was how thin the parts were since they would be made of plastic and injection molded

I then started to model the car in CAD

Proposed Concept Car

Here is my proposed Automoblox Rivain R1 Concept Car. I used Keyshot to generate the photo-realistic render. It looks and feels like an Automoblox Car while also maintaining the characteristics of the Rivain such as the rims of the car, the lights, and the front and back bumper

FULL Scale 1:1 3d printed prototype

In order to see handle my car and understand how it functions I 3d printed a working 1:1 prototype. All the parts are removable and interchangble with other Automoblox cars.
