PROJECT:
Interior Design
BRIEF:
Design an interior Space that will help revitalize downtown Cedarville
TIMEFRAME: 4 weeks
DATE: Fall 2021
This interior design project is a continuation of our master plan study for the Village of Cedarville, Ohio. We were asked to select a building from the master plan, select a use for the building, and provide a creative interior design solution that will attract business to the city center
Design a business that will encourage community for residents of Cedarville, college students, and tourists. We decided to use the abandoned building next to the Ohio to Erie rail trail as a bicycle shop. What better way to respect the existing buildings and build community for all ages.
In order to design well, we needed to understand the location, town, potential client, and potential users.

Client Bill Sanders
Bill Sanders, is a long time resident of the Village of Cedarville. His wife, Ann, and his four grown children have lived there since 1990. On the weekends, the Sanders family would always make the trek down to the bike path to ride their bicycles.
Now that Bill’s kids have grown, he wants to give people the opportunity to make the same memories he has with his family. Since Bill used to work for the local university, he has a heart for the growing community.
Seeing a gap in the locally available activities, he decided to start a bicycle shop where community members of all ages could maintain an active lifestyle.
We're here to make your next ride better.
At the Bike Loft, we share a passion for cycling and community. We realize maintaining an active lifestyle is an important part in each person’s life. Whether you are a new hobbyist, competitive enthusiast, or need relaxation, Bike Loft has something for you. We believe cycling has a huge potential to benefit not only the individual, but the surrounding community as well through our year-round programs.
When you shop at the Bike Loft, you can be assured that you are getting the best service, product, and value available. As we are locally owned and operated, you'll also be helping us help the community. We pride ourselves on being located next to the 326 mile Ohio Erie Bike Trail. Passing through 4 major cities, quaint small towns, and scenic countryside. We realize that the local community makes our business successful, and we are proud to make our community better.
The various users that the Bike Loft would serve
Store Mood Board
We separated the Bike Loft into: showroom, maintenance, rental, and spin studio areas. These areas allow us to cater to people in all areas of life and during all seasons.
Trey Roudebush
The rental area for the Bike Loft was inspired by current bike share systems, where users are able to come and get bikes on their own time, without the need for an employee. This would ensure and optimize the bike rental process.
Sarah Lacey
Even with a passing glance from the sidewalk, we strove to design intriguing bicycle displays that would encourage passersby to enter the Bike Loft. We strove to keep the bicycles in the foreground and the displays as supporting elements that compliment the space and bicycles.
Jeremy Hershey
Employees need an organized environment to best serve customers.
An open work environment benefits employees and all their tools are within reach. Customers get to watch and develop relationships as their bike is serviced.
Joshua Noel
Inspired by forms found in the basic geometry of a bike, such as triangles, circles, and springs. My designs seek to combine these shapes and our brand language into a practical lighting solution.
Wallace Krupnek
With branding the Bike Loft, we wanted to design a brand that was open, inviting, clean, aesthetic, as well as something that still retains some of the small town feel and rustic appearance seen in the rest of the town of Cedarville.
